|Chichen Itza and Coba - Mayan Ruins||31|
Trips in the area included a drive into the interior to visit Chichen Itza and Coba Mayan ruins, along with some local towns. I think the choice to rent a car and drive there on our own was a great one - we were just finishing our tour of Chichen Itza when the masses of tourists arrived in all the resort buses. The drive was easy (though long), and very enjoyable. Another day we drove down to Xel Ha, a nature park with snorkeling, etc... The snorkeling was not the best, water was somewhat murky. This is a nice place to hang out, but kind of a tourist trap and not cheap by any means. Still, it's a fun place to go and not as crazy as Xcaret.
