3/14/2010 | Grand Haven, Michigan I love Grand Haven, and the whole Michigan coastline.. We took a quick weekend trip there some time ago, and I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures. There are a ton of great photo ops there, not to mention nice beaches, plenty of shopping, and hiking through picturesque landscapes.

3/1/2010 | The Big Move I've decided to give up the sub-domain that I've had running for many years now in favor of a more google friendly domain. So, 3scape Photos is officially live on 3scape.com. At some point in the future, the old sub-domain will be retired. I'll keep it live for a little while until most of my traffic migrates to the new site, but the content will be mirrored on both sites. Please update your bookmarks! |
2/12/2010 | Punta Cana, Dominican Republic I've added two new folders to the site recently, from a short trip to Punta Cana. The trip was a nice break from the Chicago cold. I got a chance to thaw out, take some pictures, and experiment with my newly converted infrared camera. 1/20/2010 | Big Changes! Although big doesn't mean obvious! I've done some work on the site recently to make browsing easier. The Photo of the Day page is now navigable, so you can see previous POTD's all the way back to 2007. I've also just partnered with Fotomoto.com to handle my print ordering/processing/shipping. Now ordering high quality fine art prints is easier than ever! Just click on the "Buy Print" link above an image, and you'll have great art on your wall in no time. Finally, I'm also now offering greeting cards and postcards, also via Fotomoto. As always, eCards are still Free! So go to the gallery and start buying. It's a tough market out there for everyone, so this should help bring down your project costs considerably. I've also been partnered with FineArtAmerica for some time now. 7/7/2009 | New Bio Page! I know it's been many months since I've last had a news update. This time I have a good excuse, however... I've been preparing for a baby that's now overdue. Pictures of my preparations are online as proof (thumbs below). News for today, though, is that I finally have added some real text and a picture to my bio page. Now you can learn a little about the man behind the camera. If you don't care about any of that, I also uploaded some pictures from recent trips to BVI, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Alas, I've been given a break until after the new year, hence this latest post. Just a quick thanks to my customers for the latest batch of purchases. 9/17/2008 | Canon EOS 5D Mark II Canon has finally announced the much anticipated EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR camera, sporting a full frame 21.1MP CMOS sensor, high res LCD screen, 1080p HD video mode, and a host of other features that make my mouth water. If only I had unlimited toy funds... Canon also recently announced the EOS 50D, a surprising upgrade to their already fantastic EOS 40D digital SLR. The 50D has an upgraded 15MP sensor (up from 10MP on the 40D), and also fashions the high resolution 3" LCD. This upgrade came only 12 months after the 40D was released, which is unfortunate for 40D owners like myself. Oh well... guess I'll just have to sell more photos. Come on, people! :) |
7/25/2008 | RSS Anyone? I have a few updates to announce, nothing major but cool nonetheless. I've updated my RSS feeds to be PicLens compatible. What is PicLens, you might ask? It's a cool new browser plug-in that allows for full-screen 3d browsing of photos, videos, and other multimedia found online. It's great for instant media slideshows. Check it out, and start viewing my images in extra sleek style! Also, I've added a new RSS feed that includes all of my latest photos. While this isn't updated daily, like the POTD feed, you can be sure to never miss my newest content.

6/9/2008 | Ozzy This isn't website news, photo news, or music news... Ozzy is our new family member. We adopted this 1 year old (plus or minus a few months) Lab/Shepherd mix from a local animal rescue. After two days, he seems to be adjusting to the new home fairly well, although his encounters with the cat have been brief and less than enthusiastic. This "little" bundle of energy is really a lifestyle changer, but we're glad to have brought him home.

5/23/2008 | New Widget! Hey all.. I'm experimenting with more interactivity in my website. Today I put together a slideshow widget that shows the last 10 or so Photos of the Day. This widget can be shared and added to other blogs or websites, so you'll have a constantly updating personal slideshow! The widget allows you to pause, and move forward and back. Clicking on any image takes you to the full size image. Enjoy! |

9/26/2007 | A few new sections have recently been posted. First, photos from my trip up to the northeastern reaches of Canada are finally online. It's taken me long enough, but give me a break, I've been busy! Also online is a new folder in the More Weirdness section with 3D images. I've just started learning about 3D modeling and rendering, so I'll post my trials and errors here for all to see. Maybe at some point I'll post some animations as well. In other news, I've started playing around with my new Canon 40D and am thrilled the say the results are everything I expected and more. The quality of this machine is so much higher than that of my old 10D. I do plan on keeping my 10D however, and possibly converting it for infrared (IR) use. That's all for now, hopefully I'll be getting more photos online soon. |

7/19/2007 | I'm back from Canada now, after a few altered plans, about 4300 miles on my vehicle, and more French than I care to hear for a long while. To say the least, this was definitely an adventure that I will probably not repeat. However, I got a few photos that I will hopefully share very shortly. |
6/7/2007 | Preparations for the big motorcycle trip are well under way. I'm waiting for some parts to come in so I can finish prepping the bike. Camping gear is pretty much set, as are maps, etc. Getting close! In other news, I've recently started uploading *some* of my photos to ShutterStock.com. This is a great place for stock photographers to market their images. However, all of my most unique images will remain on this website only, so if you need unique images then please let me know. And, as always, prints will continue to be available here in many sizes.
Finally, I will soon be adding Gallery Wraps to my product selection. This is a fantastic fine-art option, printed on canvas and stretched on a wood frame, ready for hanging. Please stay tuned! |

2/20/2007 | Happy Mardi Gras 2007!I just came back from New Orleans where I celebrated Mardi Gras for 4 days. Unfortunately I was unable to stay for Fat Tuesday, but the rest of the event was a blast. I took a bunch of photos which should be online shortly. In other news, I'm preparing for a long-haul motorcycle expedition to the northern reaches of Canada - the Trans-Labrador Highway to Newfoundland. You can just search for certain tags using the search bar on the right, browse the list of popular tags already defined, or even add your own. Stay tuned, more is on the way! |

10/2/2006 | I've just returned from a 2 week trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar in Eastern Africa. This was an absolutely fantastic trip - 8 days on safari visiting Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, the vast Serengeti, and Lake Manyara. We toured with Ranger Safaris, the largest safari company in Tanzania. I recommend them very highly, as our guide (Gaby) and driver (JB) probably the best around. The trip concluded with a few days on the island of Zanzibar, where we relaxed, toured Stone Town, and did some SCUBA diving in the Indian Ocean. I should have photos from this trip posted shortly, but sorting through almost 1600 images will take some time. |

8/10/2006 | Well, after about one month of work, I finally got around to sorting, ordering, and categorizing the 16,600 images in my collection. For this daunting task, I use IMatch digital imaging management from photools.com. It's great stuff!

8/22/2005 | Well, this is the first of who knows how many news stories for the site. I'm sort of doing this as an experiment, so I'm not sure what all will be in here yet. Here's the news for this week. I added a news feature to the website. In the near future, I plan on adding additional features, which will be accessible via the top menu bar. I'm taking ideas if anyone has any. In other news, I've joined a stock photography agency called Wish-Stock.com Check it out, especially if you work with stock photos much.
